I completed my training at Pacific Rim College's Holistic Doula program in Vancouver. I have over 270 hours of training infused with holistic approaches intended to aid and support new families through this special and life changing time in their lives. At Pacific Rim College, my training included extensive anatomy and physiology, an introduction into midwifery, herbal medicine, family support training, acupressure, holistic nutrition, tai qi, thai massage, placenta encapsulation and homeopathy. I've also trained in Seattle as Full Spectrum Doula.
Helping clients make informative decisions and providing resourceful information in preparation for pregnancy, labour, birth and postpartum care, is of the utmost importance in my practice. It is also my goal to support new Mothers and their partners during the childbearing year to aid in achieving an empowered and positive birth experience!
What a Holistic Doula will offer
As a Holistic Birth Doula, I will accompany you during labour and birth. I help with relaxation, positioning and implement various techniques for your comfort during the labour progression. I respect you and your partner and your birth choices. I provide physical, emotional and educational support, as well as reassurance and perspective. I make every effort to provide educational and resourceful information in preparation for you and your partner to make informative decisions about your pregnancy, labour, birth and postpartum care.
What a Holistic Doula does not offer
I do not replace your birthing partner or become that person if you do not have a partner or support person that will be helping you during your labour. Instead, I will work with the comfort levels of your partner and support person/s to reinforce their role in the process. I do not perform clinical tasks such as blood pressure, fetal heart monitoring or vaginal exams. I am independent and self-employed and I work for you, not your caregiver or hospital. It is important for you to understand that I cannot guarantee a specific outcome for your birth but I will do my best to help you achieve a positive birth experience!
